Join the
American
Kitefliers
Association

You will need to be a member of the AKA to compete in any class (Novice, Experienced or Master) other than beginners class at some, but not all events.  Click on the link and you can see the benefits of joining this fine organization.
This link will take you to the American Kite Flyers Association's website, where you can read the rulebooks on competition.  The main body of rules comes from the International Rule Book Committee (IRBC).  Be sure to get the Competitors, Judges and finally an AKA supplemental rulebook that you should check out.  Oh, don't forget the Compulsories Manual that spells out all of the precision figures as well.  Man that's a lot o' stuff!

Reed Design's IRBC Competition Figure Animations

If you are not sure how that precision figure is really supposed to go, this will help.  Roy Reed has done a great job of creating an animated version of ALL of the IRBC figures.  WOW, now that's a love for the sport.  A big THANKS!!!

Satori Kites

Created by our very own NWSKL Master flyer, John Barresi, the site focus is to create a fun and universal resource for sport kite competitors and enthusiasts worldwide.  The site has flyer biographies that are primarily obtained from the competitors themselves, based on published material or submitted by a flyer's sponsor.  As of today they have over 67 representatives from 8 countries, with 11 video routines... Satori is and will remain non-profit, created for competitors and those who watch.
